Mold Care

Silicone Mold Care

To help your silicone molds last as long as possible, treat them gently and avoid anything that can dry out, tear, or weaken the silicone.

Before using:
Wash gently with mild dish soap and cool or lukewarm water. Let the mold dry completely before pouring resin.

During use:
Avoid sharp tools, toothpicks, blades, or metal scrapers inside the mold. These can scratch or tear the silicone. Do not over-torch resin while it is inside the mold because too much heat can damage the silicone over time.

Demolding:
Gently pull the silicone away from the resin piece instead of forcing or yanking the piece out. For detailed molds, work slowly around the edges first.

Cleaning:
Use tape or a soft cloth to remove dust, glitter, or leftover pigment. Wash only when needed with mild soap and water. Avoid alcohol, acetone, harsh cleaners, or abrasive scrubbers.

Storage:
Store molds flat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep heavy items off the molds so they do not warp. If possible, store them in a bag or container to keep dust away.

Things to avoid:
Do not put silicone molds in the dishwasher. Do not use extreme heat. Do not store them folded, bent, or in direct sun. Avoid using the same mold for food after it has been used with resin.

Best tip:
Use a mold release only if needed or if your silicone/resin combination allows it. Too much mold release can affect the finish of your resin piece.
